The PNGDF Land Element forms the backbone of Papua New Guinea's military capability. It is responsible for ground operations, national security, border protection, disaster response, and supporting civil powers when required.
Its troops operate in some of the most rugged terrain in the world — from jungle, swamps, highlands, and remote border zones — making them one of the most resilient land forces in the Pacific region.
Patrolling and securing PNG’s land borders, especially the Highlands & Western Provinces.
Infantry operations, internal security, and supporting national law enforcement.
Deploying during earthquakes, floods, tribal conflicts, and humanitarian missions.
Developing soldiers through formal military training, trade skills, and leadership courses.
